Question:
TWAIN Driver help needed (the driver itself essentially)?

Hi, I recently uncovered a scanner id tidied away some years back, installed the software CD accompanying it and was warned I didnt have any TWAIN drivers for using it, I've downloaded the correct installations from canon, softpedia and CNET but all they seem to give me are the toolbox with the relevant scanner options, it detects the scanner (after restarting the PC following the instructions, connected the scanner and the plug and play function on XP detected it and told me it was installed and ready to use) when your setting up the scan, when you click scan it says missing TWAIN drivers
the installation cd doesnt seem to contain any, or if it does not an exe or setup file to install them and theres no option to do it from the main installation menu.

Im running XP SP2 and its a Canoscan N124OU flat bed scanner. Some of the installation drivers downloaded are winzip self extractors but dont produce an archive after extraction and even if you check the box that says 'run program after extraction' it just does nothing.

Anyone who can shed any light on this issue would be welcomed but ultimately if someone can just link me to a driver that will actually work. As I say Ive had no luck from Canon, Softpedia or CNET and I inherently distrust any site that greets me with large fonts proclaiming I should download 'Driver Detective' when selecting to download a file from any other supposed driver repository

Thanks

Try this:

Locate the CANOIT32.EXE file in the C:\Windows\Twain_32\CNQL30 directory, right click on the file, and in the Compatability tab tick the "Run this program in compatability mode for:"

Choose the Windows XP (Service Pack 2) drop down

If it's not there, you might try here to get a compatible one:

http://driverwhiz.com/drivers-en-multivariate?brand=TWAIN&logo=TWAIN&subid=1002-us-en-90000001177&gclid=CMG0-c7jv6QCFQsGbAodFn78Dg

You might try doing a search for that file in case it's somewhere else on your computer.

Have you also tried the TWAIN driver on this site?

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/scanners/canoscan_series/canoscan_n1240u#DriversAndSoftware

Choose your operating system from the dropdown and it will bring up a list of files including a driver

TWAIN Driver - N1240U Scanner Driver Ver. 7.0.3.1a_xp

Best of luck.

The easiest way to find a device driver is to type your device manufacturer name and model number into Google plus the word driver ... for this specific example, see the link below ...
