Question:
Uploading Files from scanner to paypal help please!?
2008-11-14 13:35:02 UTC
My account has a limitation with paypal at the moment as they need proof of address etc. I have a lexmark X5495 all in one and I have scanned the documentation i need to send and i have saved all the documents at 75 or 100 DPI and saved them at JPG, GIF or PNG extensions which is what the accept. But everytime i try to upload the files it says Incorrect file extension. Please submit only files with the extension. gif, .jpg, or .png

Can someone please help, ive been trying to upload these documents all day and nothing seems to work.

Please dont suggest to call paypal for help as they are useless! Have phoned them 3 times already today and they only suggested I fax and i dont have a fax nor can get to one so I really need to upload them.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Shannon

Scan the pic and save it as a bitmap. This way, paypall will accept it. Secondly, you can save it as jpeg with a 30% compression. I suspect your file is way too bid and that is why paypal refuses it.

So scan it in, save as jpeg and click on compression >>> put it at 30%.

You're probably saving it with a JPG extension, but it's not actually jpg (may be a TIF, PS, or PDF). If you use a smart conversion program, it will be able to convert it to an actual jpg. Try ImageMagick (http://www.imagemagick.org/script/binary-releases.php#windows).

Just for the heck of it, change the filename from whatever.JPG to whatever.jpg and see if that makes a difference.
