McAfee On Access Scanner isnt working---but everything else is running fine. Is this a major problem?

When I turned on my computer, the on access scanner became permanently disabled, as in not being able to enable it, despite press ing the enable button. But everything else works fine, but since OAS isnt working, the virus scanner symbol is placed with a X mark. Is it really needed or can it continue with everything else working? Access Protection is working, E-Mail scanner is working, and scans are still working. Is this a major problem?

I get the same issue. I fixed it before but can't remember.



If you go to the properties of Access Protection, you can uncheck the "prevent mcafee services from being stopped" option. That will allow you to start & stop the OAS. But, my issue continues to be with a restart of the PC, the OAS is back off again. Even after enabling it manually, it goes back to being disabled after a few minutes.
