Ok, my printer is printing documents backward and I have a school assignment due here and I need to know what I am doing wrong so that I can get it done! Its a HP Officejet J5740 and its fairly new. It just started doing this about a week ago.

If you mean the text is coming out reversed, you may have the Mirror option set for that printer. Check it out this way:

1. Press CTRL/P.

2. In the Print dialog box, click the Properties button.

3. If the Basics tab is available, click it.

4. Again, if it's available, uncheck the Mirror Image checkbox and click the OK button.

Hope that helps.

Issue

After downloading and installing Windows XP Service Pack 3 on the computer, the HP product prints text and images backwards or as a mirror image of what appears on-screen when printing from any program.

Solution

To resolve the issue, turn off mirror imaging in Printer Preferences . To do this, use the following steps:

From the Windows taskbar, click Start and then click Run .

Type control printers in the Open box and then press Enter . The Printers and Faxes window displays.

Right-click the HP product from the list of printers and then select Properties . The Properties dialog box displays.

From the General tab, click Printing Preferences . The Printing Preferences dialog box displays.

Click the Advanced tab.

Under Printer Features , click Mirror Image , click the down arrow ( ) to the right of the field, and then click Off .

Click OK to apply the change.

It might be different for different printers but it will be in the printer's properties. To get there you just click print in the program, but don't use a shortcut (ctrl+p). Next to the printer name you'll see a button for properties. If you want to make it the default for the computer, then you need to open up the printer's properties by going though the printer option in your control panel. For my printer, I go into the advanced tab and there is an option for layout order. The two choices are "front to back" and "back to front."

look in your printer options for the check box that says 'mirror' or mirror image. uncheck it. that function is for printing iron ons for T-Shirts ;-0
