Do I have to pay a fee to e-mail scanned documents?

I'm a guy who's over 50, and still trying to catch up on all the new technology of recent years.
I'm taking on a new job that will entail me having to scan completed applications and documents (-on a regular basis) to a main office that I won't travel to personally.
I tried using 'Outlook' Mail and find I have to pay Microsoft an annual fee, and Yahoo Mail says I must have (-and pay for) 'Yahoo Mail Plus', in order to use my current e-mail account to 'send' scanned documents from! This was all kind of a surprise to me.
- Does anyone know of a 'free' e-mail service I can open an account with to use; or do they all charge an annual fee for people wanted the capability I now need? Thanks for any advice! - Greg

If you use Outlook.com (the website) there is no charge to integrate your current email with their service as long as it supports POP/IMAP.

And as far as sending scanned documents goes, I'd use a Onedrive, Dropbox or Google Drive. This way you can upload the documents to the cloud drive service, and share the links with the customer, and avoid worrying about attachments sizes for the recipients. (Of course, this depends on how sensitive the documents are, since any one who has the link can view the document).

Email is free as long as you don't exceed the maximum document size of your email provider. You might try "zipping" the scanned document first to shrink it's size.

Do you have fax capability? Either a fax machine or fax from your computer capability.....
