Hello:

No Microsoft operating system comes with office productivity tools. However, there is a complete office suite available for free at:

http://www.openoffice.org

OpenOffice can read and write Microsoft Office file formats...Word docs, Excel spreadsheets and Powerpoint presentations. In addition, it has an open standard file format for each application that is native to the suite and based on XML.

OpenOffice includes a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, database, formula editor and drawing tools. The reason it's free is that it's backed by Sun Microsystems as a development bed for their StarOffice product. OpenOffice is mature, very capable and highly file compatible with a number of other office suites, especially Microsoft Office. Have a look! :-)

Cheers!

No, you have to install both separately, the operative system never comes with Office. There are some Unattended Versions of Windows like Windows UE v6, and Windows Point by Amsavs (of course they are not official versions) that come with Office and more other applications like Antivirus, Web Browser, etc. Of course you have the choice to install it "unattended" (this means you don't need to follow the installation step-by-step like in a Standard Windows one) all the components (Windows, Office, Antivirus, Codecs, Video Players, Compressors, etc.) or following a normal installation one by one. Of course, if you buy a new computer, it's possible that it comes with Windows and Office installed, but they give you the two CDs for reinstalling both (just in case you have to format your hard drive).

Windows has never come with Microsoft Office you have always had to buy it extra. Sometimes it will come with a 30 day trial. Open Office is a free program that is just like Microsoft Office and can even open Office files as well.

Hewlett Packard comes with Microsoft Works.

If anything, you can download free ones. A nice word processing program I found is AbiWord, it's free and comes with many of the features what Microsoft Word comes with. :-)

Whether or not your computer comes with one is up to the manufacturer.

Hope AbiWord helps! :-D

Nope. You have to get an office for XP separately.

unless you get office in the package with your pc, it's not included in the windows packages. it has to be purchased seperatly.
