My HP printer/scanner will not connect to the network by my computer, and when I look on the printer itself to check for an IP address, it says it is "Not Connected". Even when I use the USB cable to connect the printer to my laptop, my laptop still can't find the printer. I've tried going to the HP website, and what they had there didn't help. I tried troubleshooting the problem, all it said was to connect the printer to the computer (which I already know that I have to do this) but didn't say how.
What on earth do I do to fix it so that I can scan things into my computer again?!

HP does not need any type o address to work. Power on the scanner but do not connect the USB cable just yet.

Secondly, start a new installation and let the software indicate when to re-connect the USB cable to the computer. Let it finish setup, reboot computer and when you get to windows, HP will complete the setup automatically.

Go in your START menu and click on the HP folder and select HP solution center. It will activate the scanner and you will be able to SCAN from that menu.

your USB cable might not be working.visit the place where you bought it and ask them to replace the USB cable and try it connecting it.
