Normal Scanners can not be shared over Network.

There are some specific Scanners available for sharing over network. This feature is called "Scan to Net".

They are costly and may be more than Rs. 50000/- or so.

HI friend,

In Win XP, you need no software to share your scanner. open My Computer. Then Open Tools menu -> Folder options -> View. Then Uncheck the last line (Use simple file sharing) under 'advance settings.

Now open 'Printers and Faxes' And right-click scanner, click 'sharing'.

then check 'Share this scanner'

Done.

U can get Twain software version to connect remotely on network u can scan and get scanned images in networked system. First ur scanner can support Twain version of software first contact your hardware vendor and confirm. U can get Twain driver in bundle pack with Multifunction Devices like HP Scanner, Fax, Copier, Network Printer etc. Even HP, Canon, Ricoh, Xerox, Brother are delivering along with Twain Driver to access scanner over network.

right click on the folder your scanner software resides and select sharing. now configure it to grant access to the other computer.

now go to the other computer and map the network drive by right clicking on my computer and select map network drive. now select any letter that shows and map it by selecting browse and finding the main computer that is shared.
