The slides are family history taken over fifty years. They are mostly Kodacolor, some are Ektachrome and Fuji. There are also several hundred color and black and white photos. I would like to creadte DVDs to distribute to children and grand children.

Hello! There is a small group of scanners that have a slide

scanning holder tray built into the lid. When you go shopping look for one -you will see the slide holder tray when you open the lid. These come in various price ranges where the higher the price the greater the "DPI" (dots per inch)= greater resolution. Slide scanning requires this tray. If your old slides and photos are worth much to you

(emotionally) invest in a good scanner. Of the scanners that perform this function well, some of them come with special software for slide and old photgraph editing (like removing stains or wrinkles etc.) The extra software will almost double the price (like $350 to $500) but when I was selling digital equipment most of the photo buffs said the software that comes with these higher end scanners is worth its weight in gold and felt they could not do a good job of restoration and editing with out it. You can look at Micro Center's website and order on line or somewhere similiar. Get the best scanner you can afford and you will be able to enjoy your treasures for a long time to come. I hope this helps you! A special scanning feature is needed for slides!

Enjoy!
