The light won't go on when i go to scan something and i think it may be blown. Is it worth replacing the bulb if i can find one or should i replace the whole scanner? the scanner is an HP Scanjet 2300c.

Thanks in advance!

Get a HP 3 in 1..they are so cheap these days

Is it still under warranty? How long have you had it? If its still under warranty take it back where you bought it, or send it back to HP.

More than likely its not though, so in that case you would be better off just buying a new one. The cost of fixing it yourself or paying someone to fix it would be much more than the price of a new unit.

Sadly, we have become a throw-away society. But with many everyday electronic devices its just cheaper to buy a new one than to pay to have it fixed.

Contact HP by email. I have a HP that scans, prints and copies. When I have a problem with it, I contact them. There should be a link in your HP program that you can contact them through. They are good and will get right back to you about this. Hope this helps!

Do the math...some bulbs are pretty pricey...so if the bulb price and the effort of putting it in seems daunting...

Go with a new scanner...

If the bulb price is pretty cheap, and you know how to use a screwdriver...go with the bulb...

Hope this helped...unplug it first, good lord almighty...

The cost to repair a scanner is far more then the cost to replace one.

So pitch it and go get another.

Anymore they are cheaper to replace then to try to fix, I would say: replace the scanner

The lights in all recent scanners can not be replaced.

Buy a new scanner.

check to owners manual for the type of bulb. search the net to determine the cost.

if reasonable, replace.

if no, get a new scanner.

you don't say how long you've had it...if it's still under warranty, they will have you send it back to them and replace it free of charge...if the warranty has lapsed, it would be more useful to just get a newer one...there are many new features every day...call their 800# and ask them for advice...their tech support people are very nice to deal with...

try and fix it. how hard can changing a bulb be. probably just need a screw driver. Check the forums for people with similar problems to try and ascertain what it could be.
