My mom got a computer today for the family, about an hour and a half in it shut down and when we tried to reboot the computer but it gets stuck on the loading screen with the blue bars going across the grey loading bar. so we turn it off and we can go to safety mode and do stuff but we are limited to what we can do and everything looks like crap. Please help me with simple English so i can do this myself to fix it.~~~I saw somewhere that CHKDSK /F /R is supposed to work, or is it CHKDSK/f and CHKDSK/R And does this work????? It's getting my mum frustrated

If you can boot in SAFE mode, once you are into windows, go in control panel and click on device manager and verify where there is an exclamation mark next to the hardware. That will tell you that the device needs an updated driver or the correct driver for that particular hardware.

Once you boot in safe mode, windows should be able to rebuild your registry and boot normally. If you have some truncated files, then select F8 while you boot and select " Safe mode with Command prompt"

Type chkdsk /f at the command prompt and hit enter. That should fix the directory on the hard drive which can prevent you from booting normally.

When you turn on your computer, spam the f12 and f10 button. A screen should pop up with a lot of options. Use your arrow keys to find a diagnostic choice. Run some diagnostics. If there are any errors there, then that should give you a lead.

Just unplug the computer simply..

Then power on , while booting the windows give the option "start windows normally".This is how I do often and it I will help you.
