i really need to share the HP scanner over the network as there are many f us who need the scanner s it is a real bother to keep on requesting the person (who has the scanner connected to the PC) for a favor.

Thank you.

Yes you canshare it. Right-click on the scanner and select sharing.

Give it a name so you can remember it.

Go in the other computer and select "Map Drive and you should see the scanner there. Click on the name you saved and let the computer connect. it cantake a few seconds and up to a miute.

That's it.

I always thought you couldn't but see http://graphicssoft.about.com/b/2004/02/10/share-a-scanner-with-remotescan.htm ...but this seems pretty pointless because you've still got to get to the scanner to feed it the document you want to scan.

You'll end up walking to the scanner, feeeding it your document, going back to your computer, do the scanning, then going back to the scanner to get the docment back. If someone else decides to use the scanner then repeat the above steps until you've finished scanning your document.

As they say, work smarter, not harder - move the scanner to a shared computer or one that's not in use all the time. You can save the files to any shared drive.

Open administration Panel. decide on Scanners and digital camera. precise click on your HP scanner then % "Sharing" if available. in simple terms enable sharing on the community. in any different case, in simple terms enable report sharing on the laptop the place the scanner is asserted. Create a Scanner Folder which would be shared on the community. placed all scanned records which you desire to share on that folder.
